Evaluation of Access Mars
Evaluation of Access Mars is a detailed memo of the visual rhetoric and delivery media of Access Mars, an online experience developed in collaboration with Google to showcase images taken by the Mars rover.
"The collaborative study Communicating Art, Virtually! Psychological Effects of Technological Affordances in a Virtual Museum explains that, “a website with more interactive features leads users, especially inexperienced users, toward peripheral processing... Thus, the interactive features may have resulted in a directly positive evaluation,” (page 6). Therefore it is in direct correlation to the lack of varied and accessible interactive features that this site may struggle to hold the attention of its viewers and elicit positive reactions."
Anniversary Review of Mending Wall by Robert Frost
This anniversary review of Mending Wall examines how a poem written over 100 years ago delivers a topical perspective of the United States border crisis.
"because it is infinitely easier to place the blame on someone other than ourselves, we have turned against our neighbor. This new mindset has been abused by political parties and used to superficialy imply their trustworthiness by ‘uncovering the truth’ at the cost of demonizing Mexico and other Latin American countries. Now Donald Trump is strongly encouraging the erection of a massive wall between the U.S. and Mexico. This lack of partnership and forced separation built on unnecessary fear is exactly what Frost is warning his readers about in 'Mending Wall.'"
House of Rodin (Excerpt)
House of Rodin is a short, Nordic inspired novel detailing the adventures of five heros and their quest to uncover the mystery of what lies within the house of Rodin.
"With my eyes cast downwards at the endless white, it was like traveling through nowhere. I almost felt bad crushing the smooth surface with my sinking feet. There should have been one more set of footprints, but Sparrow - wrapped in glossy otter pelts - was draped across the arms of Oru. Snowflakes drifted down and rested along the length of her body, but they did not melt like those that landed on our warm shoulders."
Lava Lamps In Context
Lava Lamps In Context is a historical review of the creation and design of lava lamps as well as the socio-cultural influences that lead to their popularity.
"The point of a lamp is to provide ample light for other activities to occur around it, and yet in the spirit of counterculture, the soft glow of a Lava Lamp is far from sufficient to be useful in daily life. The Lava Lamp spotlights itself and while they’re often used to create an ambiance, the overcoming purpose of them is to be observed, not create an environment for other things to be seen."
